This training will support social workers to enhance their interactions with unpaid carers to improve their mutual relationships. Social workers are a vital source of support for unpaid carers and the people they look after. Attendees will learn about good practice principles and practical tips which they can use in their work to increase the likelihood of mutually supportive, open and positive relationships between social workers and the unpaid carers they work with.

All training sessions are 1.5 hours long.

Carers Wales held ten focus groups with social workers and unpaid carers between August 2020 and February 2021 to inform this training, ensuring that the content of these training sessions has been directly shaped by the needs and experiences of both social workers and carers.

This training is part of the Carer Aware project which has been funded by the Welsh Government to transform the recognition, respect and support unpaid carers receive in health and social care settings. Carers Wales and Carers Trust Wales are delivering the project with support from Social Care Wales, the British Association of Social Workers Cymru (BASW Cymru ) and the Association of Directors of Social Services Cymru (ADSS).

This training will count toward Social Workers Continuing Professional Development (CPD). An accredited digital badge will be provided for records after you have completed this training, along with a pin badge.

Please note: You must attend the full session to be eligible for the digital badge. Small allowances will be made for connectivity issues. After the training, you will also be required to complete a post-training questionnaire.

Any questions, please email info@carerswales.org.
